Wolf-Gordon Introduces the Passage Collection

At NeoCon 2013, Wolf-Gordon will unveil Passage - three new type II wallcoverings - designed by Calvin Tsao and Zack McKown. The Passage Collection: Birch, Element and Flower, is inspired by Tsao & McKown’s poetic observations of the effects of weathering and the passage of time on all things.

Passage will be on view June 10-12 in the Wolf-Gordon Vescom showroom, Suite 10-161, at the Merchandise Mart in Chicago.

05.2013 WMCD: What MOCA Can Do

WMCD: What MOCA Can Do

As part of the IDEAS CITY FESTIVAL happening in New York this week, Calvin Tsao was invited to participate in a live-action, multimedia brainstorm, in which MOCA will present an agenda to a group of creative minds from inside and outside of Chinatown in order to come up with fresh ways to approach long-standing problems. The carefully chosen group of voices, including architects, urban planners, journalists, historians, and experiential designers, will freestyle solutions in the spirit of the IDEAS CITY theme.

The event will take place at 7pm on Saturday May 4th at the Museum of China in America.

Unfortunately we have just learned that due to unforeseen circumstances the lecture planned for Tuesday, April 30th 2013 at The New York Institute of Technology has been cancelled.

We hope to reschedule this presentation in the Fall, and will let you know the re-arranged date when we are able to do so.

Tree Planting Ceremony - Shanghai Learning Center

On the 14th of April a Tree Planting Ceremony took place on the site of the Shanghai Learning Center. The Osmanthus tree will create a focal point in the courtyard and enhance the aspect through the entry atrium. Overall progress is going well on-site and there will be more project images to follow in the coming months.

We are honored to announce that Calvin Tsao has received the Legacy Award from the Museum of Chinese in America (MOCA). Congratulations to the fellow awardees: Silas Chou (President and CEO, Novel Holdings Group), Angelica Cheung (Editor in Chief, Vogue China), and Humberto Leon and Carol Lim (Co-Founders, Opening Ceremony).

The annual Legacy Award gala will take place at Cipriani Wall Street on December 3, 2012.

Creative Ecologies Plus

Lumiere Residences featured in the Creative Ecologies Plus Exhibition. The exhibition takes a look at Hong Kong’s creative evolution in time and space. It explores how internal and external forces have impacted the design industry’s growth since the beginning of the 20th century, and how these relate to the emergence and enlargement of the creative infrastructure, as well as the development of enterprises and brands through collaborative and social innovation. 2010 American Architecture Award

William Beaver House has been recognized by the “Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design" in conjunction with the “European Centre for Architecture and Design and Urban Studies" with a 2010 American Architecture Award for Most Significant Contemporary Architecture in the US.   WBH will be included in a special exhibition of all winners at their annual conference, “The City and The World: Madrid Symposium" before traveling to the Athens Museum and then Istanbul.

AIA New York State Citation

Tsao & McKown's renovation and restoration of the Jianfu Palace Museum and Visitors Center has received a “Citation" from the New York State AIA. Jianfu Palace has previously been recognized with the Best of Year Award from Interior Design Magazine and the Award for Historic Preservation from Architectural Record China Awards. The project was included in a showcase of other New York Architects at this year's Design Awards Program in Buffalo, NY.
