Penthouse with a Past

Penthouse with a Past

New York, NY

The interior architecture of this gut-renovated apartment takes cues from its 1930’s-building, which exemplifies the marriage of modernism and craft that is emblematic of that era.

The new design merges modern and pre-modern vocabularies to relate to that historical moment, including a direct reference to Piero Portaluppi’s masterful Villa Necchi (1935).
