The Jewish Museum Permanent Collection

NEW YORK, NY, US

In order to help the Museum rethink the display of its historic collection of objects as well as contemporary pieces and video, we created new strategies with the curators for presenting the permanent collection according to themes.

Then, we gut renovated the museum’s third floor to improve/clarify the space for this curatorial strategy and enhance the visitor’s experience. Two critical aspects of the re-design were to create separate (but overlapping) spaces for smaller exhibitions within a unified envelope, and to re-open the galleries to the outside via restored windows that previously had been blocked.
